The XC Trails

The miles and miles of beautiful cross country riding include blue & red graded single track trails. Beginners love the blue graded, 11km Verderers Trail (named the Best Blue Trail in England, MBUK 2021), while intermediates have to keep their wits about them on the red graded (& recently extended) 17 km Freeminers Trail (with a choice of 3 different loops including Adit Trail that was added in 2022).

The trails are managed by the Forestry England and the latest trail information can be found on their website.

Plan your ride

The Forest of Dean has it all. Roots, drops, jumps, flow, tech – you name it, you’ll find it here in the FOD. You’ll also find a range of skills areas, a pumptrack, enduro trails and 14 official downhill lines. So start planning your visit;

The Famous Verderer’s Trail

Voted best blue trail in the UK by MBR in 2021. This trail is 11km with just over 940 feet of elevation change. Want to add some more, drop down the blue graded countdown and launchpad from marker post 61, then climb back up the push up track to rejoin the Verderers trail. The piece de resistance is the famous final Dragons Tail descent that brings you back to the Pedalabikeaway Cycle Centre.

The Red Freeminer’s trail

The miles and miles of beautiful cross country riding include blue & red graded single track trails, those riding the red freeminers trail have to keep their wits about them with a mix of tech, roots and flowly berms. The trail has recently extended to 17 km, but has a choice of 3 different loops you can do.

The new Red skills area is part of the loop, with 5 table top jumps and a drops line to hone your skills on before you continue up a switchback climb, and the new Dean Trail Volunteers/Velosolutions descent is well worth lapping a few times too!

3X Skill Areas

Introductory skills area – suitable for children and complete beginners is just over the bridge from the centre

Or Advanced skills area with a pump track, jumps, drops and features – suitable for the intermediate to the advanced rider! Just 150 metres up the blue trail from the centre.

Red Skills Area – for intermediate riders refining their skills. This has a Drop Line and a Table top line. Just follow the red trail from the centre for approx 1.5k.
