Conditions of Hire
The Hirer is responsible for the bike and equipment and will be liable for any loss
or damage during the period of hire. You need to check and sign that you are happy with the condition of the bike before we hire it to you.
Payment is due at the commencement of hire or point of booking. Card only.
Cancellation: We are only able to process cancellations refunds 72 hours prior to the hire. Any cancellation after this time will be charged at 100%. In certain circumstances we may be able to move your booking to a later date – solely at our discretion.
Positive identification confirming a permanent address will be required from each hirer, Photo ID will be required for each bike. Only Photo Drivers licence or Passport with proof of address accepted.
Loss and damage deposit – £50 to £500 per bike (depending on number and type of bike) is required before hire, refundable on return. The hirer will be required to pay in full for any loss or damage which may be over the security deposit.
Tool kit and lock – deposit £15/£25
Loss and Damage Electric Bikes – in addition to the above the motor for the bike is contained in the housing around the bottom bracket. It is therefore liable to damage if the bike is ridden over drops, through rocky sections or up a large step up (including high curbs). The cost to replace the motor is £700 and the hirer will be required to pay in full for any damage.
All riders must be over 14.
Security – bikes are not to be left unattended at any time. Bikes must be locked to a fixed object securing the frame and wheels.
Overnight hire
Is only allowed if bike is secured using a lock inside a locked stone building.
You will need to complete a pre authorisation per Bike Hire – £1500 or £3500 for an e bike or you can return the bike to us at the end of the day and collect again at 9am.
Appropriate use – bikes are to be used on the appropriate way-marked trails only. Trail and leisure bikes are not to be used within the Sallowvallets area. Standard Mountain Bikes may not be used on the downhill lines. Our hire bikes are for use in the Forest of Dean – not other trail centres / Bike parks.
No changes are to be made to the bike – other than saddle height by the customer.
Late returns – will be charged at £10 per 15 minutes after normal return time.
Helmets – are provided free within the hire charge. We recommend wearing a helmet at all times.
Guided riding groups will not exceed a 1-8 guide to participants ratio. This is to ensure your safety and enjoyment.
Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. A parent or guardian over 18 will need to sign for responsibility of the bike.
Disclaimer – Cycling off road is relatively safe but obviously has inherent hazards associated and accidents can happen. Pedalabikeaway staff take all necessary precautions to try and ensure the safety of participants. Hirers should familiarise themselves with the hazards and attempt to minimise risk as much as possible. The management accepts no liability whatsoever for any loss or injury whilst riding Pedalabikeaway hired bikes. Hirers agree that individuals participate at their own risk.
